New Valid Inequalities and Facets for the Simple Plant Location Problem

چکیده
The Simple Plant Location Problem is a well-known (andNP-hard) combinatorial optimisation problem, with applications in logistics. We present a new family of valid inequalities for the associated family of polyhedra, and show that it contains an exponentially large number of new facet-defining members. We also present a new procedure, called facility augmentation, which enables one to derive even more valid and facet-defining inequalities.

Valid inequalities and facets of the capacitated plant location problem
Recently, several successful applications of strong cutting plane methods to combinatorial optimization problems have renewed interest in cutting plane methods, and polyhedral characterizations, of integer programming problems. In this paper, we investigate the polyhedral structure of the capacitated plant location problem. Our purpose is to identify facets and valid inequalities for a wide ran...
متن کاملOn the facets of the simple plant location packing polytope
We introduce new classes of facet-de0ning inequalities for the polytope P associated with the set packing formulation of the simple plant location problem (SPLP) with p plants and d destinations. The inequalities are obtained by identifying subgraphs of the intersection graph G(p; d) of SPLP that are facet-de0ning, and lifting their associated facets if it is necessary. To this end, we 0nd subf...
متن کاملDesigning Incomplete Hub Location-routing Network in Urban Transportation Problem
In this paper, a comprehensive model for hub location-routing problem is proposed which no network structure other than connectivity is imposed on backbone (i.e. network between hub nodes) and tributary networks (i.e. networks which connect non-hub nodes to hub nodes). This model is applied in public transportation, telecommunication and banking networks. In this model locating and routing is c...
متن کاملThe Complexity of Lifted Inequalities for the Knapsack Problem
Hartvigsen, D. and E. Zemel, The complexity of lifted inequalities for the knapsack problem, Discrete Applied Mathematics 39 (1992) 11. 123. It is well known that one can obtain facets and valid inequalities for the knapsack polytope by lifting simple inequalities associated with minimal covers. We study the complexity of lifting. We show that recognizing integral lifted facets or valid inequal...
متن کاملOn the Two-Level Uncapacitated Facility Location Problem
We study the two-level uncapacitated facility location (TUFL) problem. Given two types of facilities, which we call y-facilities and z-facilities, the problem is to decide which facilities of both types to open, and to which pair of yand z-facilities each client should be assigned, in order to satisfy the demand at maximum profit. We first present two multi-commodity How formulations of TUFL an...
